Lorde opens doors for Kiwis

ZM radio host Jay Reeve has been in Las Vegas with his boss, Radio Network MD Dean Buchanan. Spy hears they had quite a time at the the fourth annual iHeartRadio Music Festival, hosted by Ryan Seacrest at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, with two days of incredible acts.
Buchanan, a music scene veteran, was astonished at how doors have opened since the discovery of teen sensation Lorde. "Because of Lorde, all we needed was our accents and before you knew it we were backstage with Lorde, her mum, Sonja Yelich - who Reeve won over with a Stolen Girlfriend's bear - and Lorde's band, Ben Barter and Jimmy Mac."
That was just the entree. Before long they were chatting with mega-star festival opener Taylor Swift. Reeve told Spy: "She genuinely loves Lorde, adores New Zealand and was just lovely to hang backstage with." They also met Coldplay's Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran. Buchanan added: "Lorde is on massive billboards all over the US, Kiwis quickly forget just how huge she is in the US. Her Hunger Games'Mockingjay soundtrack has just come out and she is only just beginning. Lorde is opening many doors for Kiwis."

Leonardo DiCaprio

Why Leonardo DiCaprio is a poor role model for saving the planet

TORONTO - Two events last week illustrated the enormous misunderstanding many people who think they’re saving the planet have with regard to man-made climate change, aka global warming.

The first was the one-day UN climate change summit in New York, and the protest marches leading up to it.

The second was Apples’ release of its iPhone 6.

The irony, lost on many who no doubt lined up to buy the latest iPhone before rushing out to join the protests (leaving a tsunami of litter in their wake) was this.

If, according to their own logic, they want to save the planet, they have to stop buying the latest version of the latest cell phone, when the one they have is still perfectly usable.

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet talks about being a mum, twerking and time management

how did your partnership with the brand come about?

They approached me to be an ‘ambassador of elegance’ in 2010. It was very important to me to know about them as a company, and what was a breath of fresh air was the fact they care so much about the people who work for them. They’re very innovative; they move with the times.

You would think a company that’s existed for such a long time could become quite set in its ways, but it isn’t. There’s a lot to be said for that.

You’re an ‘ambassador of elegance’. What’s elegance to you? I imagine it’s not twerking?
Elegance to me is a woman who keeps her clothes on! I do think it’s a very individual thing, isn’t it? Because it’s not one ‘thing’; it’s specific to a person. It has to come from inside.

Jason Momoa's Aquaman appearing as surfer, rumors

Actor Jason Momoa has been confirmed to play Aquaman on the 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' cast, though details of how he will portray the ocean-locked character are still slim. However, there are news reports suggesting that Momoa's Aquaman will look like a surfer.
"So the first bit of news is that he's going to look like a surfer essentially with tribal tattoos and all that jazz. Nothing huge and pretty obvious but for those of you wondering, that's what we hear he'll look like in the film, which makes sense since it's Momoa playing the character," Alex Welch wrote in a report published by Schmoes Knows.
