The actress, who is well known for her role in the Hallyu hit drama
"Jewel in the Palace," donated the money to pay for the life-saving
surgeries performed on a newborn. The parents did not have the money to pay for the surgeries but it is not known how Lee Young Ae became involved. At first, Lee wanted to help them secretly but she disclosed her
identity when the baby's mother repeatedly asked to thank
the person who helped her.
"Jewel in The Palace" has been on Taiwanese television 14 times in the past 11 years.
Lee Young Ae is one of the most popular Korean TV stars in Taiwan. Jewel in the Palace," also known as "Dae Jang Geum," was the story of a
kitchen cook, who became a Joseon-era king's first female physician. The proposed remake would have featured her as an older version of her
character, and also feature a daughter, who followed her mother's path
as a physician. But eventually Lee Young Ae decided against taking part
and the producers did not want to make the drama without he.
Lee Young-ae is in talks to star in a new drama titled Shin Saimdang
Lee Young-ae is in talks to star in a new drama titled Shin Saimdang,
which would be a biographical show chronicling the life and career of
the famed Joseon-era artist and calligrapher who lived in the early 16th
century and was known by the nickname Wise Mother. The drama would mark Lee Young-ae’s first acting project in nine years as her last role was in the 2005 Park Chan-wook film Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.
She has since married and become mother to a set of twins, and has
lived quietly with her family. But she has stated that she considers her
acting career important as well, and is thankful for those awaiting her
return to that role.
Lee Young-ae to Promote ASEAN Summit
Actress Lee Young-ae has been named promotional ambassador for the 2014
ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit, which will take place in Busan on Dec.
11 and 12. Lee will serve well in promoting the significance of the summit as she
is still very popular in Southeast Asia due to her hit drama "Jewel in
the Palace."
Actress Lee Young-ae is participating in the theater "Dolls At My House" marketing.
Lee Young-ae and Jeong Il-woo are taking part in the first Hanyang Graduate School Department of Theater "Dolls At My House" marketing. "Dolls At My House" is a remake of the original "Doll House" by Henry
Yves. It has been verified and retold for decades ever since the first
performance in 1876 in Copenhagen, Denmark. This theater is based on gestures and abstract props as it puts more weight on experience than reality.
